Akhilesh Yadav Accuses Election Commission of Favoring BJP in Ongoing Electoral Process

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accuses the Election Commission of favoring the BJP, alleging the poll body’s actions could divide opposition votes. Speaking in Lucknow, he raises concerns over electoral neutrality amid rising political tensions ahead of key voting phases.

Lucknow — Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday leveled serious allegations against the Election Commission, claiming the institution was acting in a manner that ultimately benefits the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, Yadav questioned the neutrality of electoral oversight at a time when political tensions are running high ahead of crucial voting phases.

Without offering specific procedural evidence, Yadav asserted that the conduct of the Election Commission appeared skewed, suggesting it was enabling circumstances that could fragment the opposition vote. “I feel the Election Commission seems intent on helping the BJP realize its political dream by creating conditions under which the opposition’s votes are diminished,” he said. His statement reflects a growing chorus of concerns voiced by several opposition parties over the fairness and transparency of election-related decisions.

The remarks add a new layer of friction to an already contentious political environment, with opposition leaders frequently accusing institutions of leaning toward the government. The Election Commission has not yet issued a response to Yadav’s comments, but the allegations are expected to intensify debate over the integrity of the electoral process.

As campaigning accelerates, Yadav’s criticism highlights the persistent struggle between political parties and regulatory authorities over the handling of elections in India. The episode underscores the broader national conversation on institutional impartiality — a debate that is likely to resonate throughout the election season.
